Our recent Oakdale estate sale was one of those sales where you never quite knew what you’d find when you walked into the next room. The home had a little bit of everything—beautiful antique furniture, vintage Sansui audio equipment, military pieces, artwork, china, tools, and plenty of things that made us stop for a closer look.

For us, that’s one of the best parts of an estate sale. You’re not walking into a store where everything was chosen to match a certain style. You’re stepping into a home and seeing pieces that were collected, used, and cared for over many years.

This Oakdale home had plenty of stories to tell.

Antique Furniture at Our Oakdale Estate Sale

The furniture immediately gave the home a sense of history.

One of the pieces that stood out was a Victorian carved walnut parlor settee. There were also Renaissance Revival tables, a secretary desk, genuine mahogany furniture, marble-top tables, antique chairs, and display cabinets throughout the home.

We also had a Heywood-Wakefield chest of drawers and a Marshall & Wendell upright piano.

These weren’t pieces that all looked exactly alike or came from the same period, and that was part of their charm. Walking through the rooms felt a little like moving through different eras.

It’s also a reminder of why people still enjoy shopping estate sales for furniture. Older pieces often have details and character you simply don’t see every day.

Vintage Sansui Audio Was Hard to Miss

If you love vintage audio equipment, this was a fun sale to explore.

The home included several Sansui components, including an AU-999 Integrated Amplifier, TU-999 Tuner, SD-7000 Reel-to-Reel Tape Deck, and RA-500 Reverberation Amplifier.

These were exactly the kinds of pieces that made audio enthusiasts slow down and take a closer look.

There was more beyond the Sansui collection, too. Shoppers found vintage car stereos, a Bose Wave System, a Sharp typewriter, and even a Six-16 Brownie Junior camera.

That’s the fun of walking through an estate sale. You might come in looking for furniture and suddenly find yourself standing in front of a reel-to-reel tape deck you haven’t seen in years.

From beautiful Ethan Allen furniture and sparkling silver to vintage clothing, old tools, and unexpected garage finds, this home gave treasure hunters plenty to explore.

Every room offered something different. Shoppers could move from traditional furniture and elegant glassware to vintage collectibles, rugs, tools, and outdoor décor. It was exactly the kind of sale where taking one more look often led to another discovery.

Furniture Highlights from the Ambridge Estate Sale

Furniture played a starring role throughout the Ambridge home.

Ethan Allen pieces included a Georgian Court block-front chest, Federal-style secretary desk, Baumritter buffet, hutch, and kitchen table. Pennsylvania House furniture also stood out, including a bedroom set and mahogany chest of drawers.

Shoppers also discovered pieces from Thomasville, Harden, Hitchcock, Kling, Finch, and House of Edinboro.

One particularly eye-catching find was a vintage Duncan Phyfe-style mahogany drop-leaf table with brass paw feet. Antique chairs, rocking chairs, cabinets, sofas, and a vintage coat rack added even more variety.

For buyers who appreciate furniture built with character and craftsmanship, there was plenty to see.

The home also featured a Howard Miller “Carrington” banjo wall clock, vintage crocks, primitive lanterns, brass lamps, old oil cans, decorative statues, books, mirrors, and early American artwork.

Local history even made an appearance through Beaver County materials and Harmony Township plans.

Last Saturday, July 25th, treasure hunters across the Pittsburgh area had plenty to explore with two estate sale happening on the same day. Each home offered its own personality: one in Mt. Washington filled with modern comforts, and another in Allison Park brimming with antiques and collectibles.

Mt. Washington Estate Sale

At 422 Bailey Avenue in Mt. Washington, visitors stepped into a spotless, modern home where nearly every room held something worth taking home. Shoppers admired the plush reclining sectional, sleek modern couches, and granite-top tables that gave the space a polished feel. Bedrooms featured contemporary dressers and a Tempur-Pedic king mattress, while the living room showcased a TCL 65” Roku Smart TV alongside a Real Flame electric fireplace.

Fitness fans were thrilled to find Bowflex dumbbells, a Livestrong elliptical, and a recumbent bike, while the kitchen was stocked with Pier 1 Imports stoneware, Circulon cookware, Keurig coffee makers, and colorful Yeti tumblers. Décor ranged from modern wall art to stained glass lamps and nautical accents, creating a stylish mix throughout the home. With Shark vacuums, board games, and brand-name duffle bags rounding out the selection, this sale was a perfect blend of practicality and style.

Meanwhile, at 1852 Stage Drive in Allison Park, the atmosphere was entirely different — more like stepping into a collector’s gallery. Jewelry cases sparkled with 14K gold necklaces and sterling silver sets, while ornate Ansonia clocks and a Culbransen player piano drew crowds of antique lovers. Nikon cameras, Lladro figurines, Royal Doulton pieces, and shelves of Harvard Classics added to the sense of discovery.

Furniture enthusiasts wandered through rooms filled with Kent Coffey’s “The Savoy” bedroom set, cedar armoires, mid-century modern hutches, and antique dressers. Décor highlights included stained glass lamps, brass candlesticks, Noritake china still in its packaging, and Mikasa glassware. Even the garage held surprises, from outdoor tools to storage cabinets. The biggest thrill came from the attic, where a large stash of vintage Christmas items was uncovered — a true delight for collectors who know how rare those treasures can be.
